Landing on my feet...

Considering the stress that my misbehaviour caused me, a couple of weeks ago the light at the end of the tunnel was very dim indeed.

Now, after 7 days off (supension is a strange "disciplinary" action in my mind. Time off is time off, and even without pay, it's pleasant to have unscheduled time off.) I'm relaxed & ready for new challenges...

I showed up at my new office on Wednesday morning. The trip, which I expected would take me much longer than it took to get to my previous location, was 10 minutes shorter! With a very long subway ride in the middle of it, it is ideal for watching a missed episode of Boardwalk Empire, playing a game of Bejewelled, or catching up on a Sookie Stackhouse novel (just 4 left to go).

Upon arriving (½ an hour earlier than planned) at my new digs, I felt more like I was attending a high school reunion. Unbeknownst to me, I was to be joining several folks who I had met or worked with before - all of them pleasant memories. Now, I already knew who my new boss was going to be, and I had actually requested a transfer in the past so as to get a chance to work under him, so no rude surprises on that front either.

The job is being created around me, but I am bringing welcome knowledge, and computer skills to an office that has been without actual "office staff" for quite some time. A dozen Enforcement Officers, and no clerical help! They didn't even have someone to look up data for them on the system when they were out on the road!) I am going to be VERY busy (which I always love).

The new-car-smell won't be wearing off of this new job for a few weeks, but so far I'm enjoying the smooth ride(with no brick wall on the horizon yet)!!
