Decidedly NOT Just Another Band From L.A.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2011

As sure as Billy was a mountain and Ethel was a tree growing off of his shoulder, Jed's Dead is among the best little bands on the planet...but if they were a woman, they'd be called a tease!

Why? Well, I just got a promo email announcing the band's upcoming Halloween appearance at the Halloween Harvest Festival at Pierce College. Now, my fellow North-of-49ers (at least those who didn`t click the link) may be asking;
"what the hell is a Pierce College, and where do I find one?"

Well, therein lies the tease. The location for this event leaves me far too latitudinally challenged for attendance.  (as it does to the many PeBoVision readers who've so enjoyed last year`s "You've already won Baby Doll!"*).

 But this is a blog, and that fact presents the possibility that someone from the L.A. area might pass through here while browsing random blogger sites (and yes, you really should get a life!), giving me the opportunity to point out a cool (family friendly) event taking place in their vicinity.

And how cool would that be? An inconsequential Canadian personal blog persuading a happy Van Nuys family (or commune of long hair hippy freak stoners)  to check out a festival that is local for them, even though it's over 3400kms for me. Kinda makes you take pause at the utter awesomeness of the internet (for about 5 seconds, or until you forget what you were pondering, whichever comes first).

And remember that lead vocalist Edward Romero is not only a great musician, he also makes movies which just happen to be surprisingly well-suited to a "Halloween" soirée! (so ladies, if he offers you a ride home, you might want to take the bus)

If, on the other hand, you found this page because you're a fan of Zappa's classic album referred to in the title (and permanently carved into my into my top 10 list of live albums), I apologize for misleading you. How's the back? Are you taking your meds? Still peeing OK? I got this huge liver spot just below my left nipple the other day. Just appeared there overnight. Go see Jed's Dead at Pierce College. They're a really kick-ass indie band (and not too loud either). Don't go in the corn maze though, could be weeks before the folks at the home find you.

For now though, put your glasses on for some nostalgia...

*those who did not enjoy last year's "You've Already Won Baby Doll" have already been advised that they were summarily ejected from my elite inner-circle for poor taste.
