And the hits just keep on coming... Arcade Fire ignites the Brit Awards

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2011

OK, I shouldn't be blogging at work, but you shouldn't be reading a blog at work, so there!!

They did it again! Arcade Fire won Album-of-the-Year for "The Suburbs" at the Brit Awards last night.

If you'd actually like to listen to them in Canada, CBC Radio's morning show is playing them, so they're probably getting more national airplay outside of Québec, than any other current Montréal indie act. Not to worry though, other countries have no problem giving this homegrown band airplay, so even though you may find it difficult to hear them on Top 40 radio in Canada, the rest of the world's got them covered.

Congratulations to these insanely talented musicians who are fast becoming Canada's musical ambassadors to the world, and they beat the hell out of Baby Bieber (or Ms Dion for that matter) in the roll!

Speaking of the  "Bieber-Till-You-Puke" phenomenon, Justin won the "Breakout-Artist-of-the-Year". I can actually get behind his winning that particular category. It does not suggest talent of any kind. Self-agrandizing teeny-bopper acts turn my stomach far too much to accept his worthiness for any other category though.

Why does he have no problem getting Canadian airplay?

(and if you're reading this, happy birthday Jo-Anne...the big 6-0! WOW!)
